Thames Valley Deerstalkers Archery

The Thames Valley Deerstalker Archery Division was established in 2008, joining together with the rifle and shotgun shooters and hunters in general. 

We are a club and group for everyone whether you are a hunter or just wanting somewhere to shoot arrows. ​
 
Entry level coaching and/or information about buying your first bow is available, join us at our monthly Club days for any assistance and information you need.  We have several Master Bowhunters in our midst who  are only too happy to share tips on this topic too.
 
The Club also has a Laporte Archery thrower – one of only two in New Zealand.  This is great fun for a group activity.

Laporte Archery Thrower

This is a fun alternative to traditional target shooting. Launching targets up to 40′ in the air, its fun, can be fast paced, or slow if that's what you prefer. 

​If you've ever done any trapshooting, you know that trying to blast those clay birds out of the sky with a shotgun is a bunch of fun, well, imagine doing the same thing with a bow in your hand, shooting a single arrow at a flying foam disks. That's exactly what the Laporte archery target machine does, and I'm telling you, it's absolutely addictive!

Practice Range

• There is a permanent fulltime practice field range available for members made up of 10 bales with 2D faces.
• We  also have an area available with a bale/bales and paper targets for sighting in or practice, up to 60 metres.
• To use the practice range you will be required to complete a Range Induction which will be undertaken with a Range Officer.
• After membership and induction are completed you are welcome to use the practice range at any time.

Club Days

• Club days for Archery are held on the second Sunday of each month - dates are in the Club Events
• Members are there from 8:00am setting out a 20 target 3D round.
• Registration is 9:00am and shooting commences at 9.30am.
• A shared lunch is had by all after.

Twilight

​Twilight is held on a Thursday evening from 5.30pm during the summer months, commencing the first Thursday in November and running through until approximately mid-March with a few weeks off over Christmas and New Year.
