TVDA Black Powder

Black powder firearms use a traditional sulphur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate propellant.  They require manual loading from the muzzle or via cap-and-ball cylinders, producing heavy smoke and a distinct sulphur smell when fired.
 
Main Types

• Matchlock:  Early design using a slow-burning match cord to ignite the powder.
• Flintlock:  Uses a piece of flint striking steel to create a spark.
• Percussion cap:  Uses a small chemical primer cap placed on a nipple, struck by the hammer.
• In-line:  Modern muzzleloader design with a straight-line ignition system
