Children are a very integral part of our club as they are our future adult members and passing on knowledge to the younger generation is a top priority for the Club.

Firearms, bush and river safety is of paramount importance for our children to learn, to understand and to practice with the intention that those skills will become second nature and automatic in real world settings.

The following events are held on a regular basis and are open to all members and their families.

• Affordable

All activities are supervised and overseen by TVDA Branch members who are fully qualified and/or competent in the many and varied subject matters that the camp undertakes.  The camp is also extremely well supported by parents and family members, and this provides for an excellent adult to child ratio throughout the entire timeframe.

27 January 2027

Kids Club Night

• Held on the last Wednesday in January
• Members AND non members
• Start time of 6.00pm
• Dinner at 7.00pm
• This is a real family night out for the whole community as all are welcome

TVDA’s January Club night is solely dedicated to the youngsters in the community.  This is a great opportunity for the kids to mix and mingle, catch up with other members from out of the district and share in a night that is solely for “them”.

Activities on the night, while varied each year, include rifle shooting and archery, novelty events and other activities that relate to the various age groups attending.

March 2027

Kids Goat Hunt

• Members only.

With a large number of family members and youngsters being so keen to get out and learn the “art and skills of hunting”, TVDA puts a real focus on what is realistically achievable for the youngsters as a starting point.

For us here at TVDA, that focus is on teaching the youngsters of all ages to hunt goats.  The reason for this is that goats:

• enable tuition on achievable, ethical and responsible hunting
• are more readily available to hunt than deer in our area
• enable the youngsters to learn about finding, stalking and taking the animals
• offer opportunities of harvesting the meat and trophies
• provide achievable goals as well as lessons on success and disappointment

Most trips are undertaken on private land with the full permission and support of the landowners.  We are extremely grateful to these wonderful farmers and their families for making these valuable opportunities available to our Club and its members.

All activities are undertaken and overseen by licenced firearms owners and experienced hunters and/or competent bow hunters.  All Arms Act requirements are fully adhered to and there is always an excellent adult to child ratio on all occasions.

September 2027

Two great events held in conjunction with each other
"A great day for all"

Kids Swazi Shoot

• Any Junior (U18) is able to compete
• This event is made possible by the fantastic support from Swazi Apparel

Kids Little 3

• Members only
• Different species to hunt for different age groups
• Dress up competition

Kids Swazi Shoot
Only TVDA branch members are entitled to take the Swazi prizes on the day.  This is in accordance with the rules set out by Swazi as the major sponsor.  TVDA  provides additional prizes to make up a full complement of items to ensure that everyone on the day takes home a prize.

The process for awarding prizes is for the Highest Overall to take the “pick of the table” and then all other entrants have their names drawn out of the hat.

Kids Little 3 / Pest Busters Hunting Competition
This event has varying options with regard to which target species are “in the competition”.  It is always undertaken with the view of teaching the youngsters about conservation as well as ethical and responsible hunting, and ongoing pest control work.

There is also an excellent array of prizes on the day.
