Hunting permits for the TeUrewera / Ngaituhoe area are now online as of this morning and the process for getting a permit is very simple and straight forward. I downloaded mine this morning and within 2-3 seconds of hitting the send button, I had my 4 month permit back by return email. The site to go to is: www.ngaituhoe.iwi.nz then click on the page Te Uru Taumatua (it’s the first heading in the line once you are on the Tuhoe page) and scroll down under this heading to “Permission for Hunting”. All you need to do is then click and fill in your details and hit send.....it’s that simple. If you know of someone who does not have a computer or access to one and they want a permit, please get them to give me a call and I will happily help them out if you are not able to. I have to stress here that we all need to thank Ngai Tuhoe and those involved for honouring their end of the deal in having this system available in the timeframe that they promised and I trust that you will all respect the areas that are closed to Hunting here the same as I’d expect you to do on DOC land or anywhere else please. Special thanks also to Don Hammond and his team on the Game Animal Council as well as the NZDA Tuhoe Liaison group for their valued input into this. Safe and successful hunting everyone if you are heading out for a walk with the rifle or bow and special thanks once again to all those who have respected the request to keep out of the park until this process was up and running. Please let good working relationships kick start this process and long may it continue. Cheers Maureen Coleman President Thames Valley Deerstalkers Assn. |
